  • Work Life Tauranga is an online community and connection hub developed by Priority One (The Western Bay of Plenty region's independent economic development organisation) to attract skilled talent to our region. Our desire is to share with you our pride in the lifestyle benefits of Tauranga and encourage you to consider finding your own flow in the Western Bay of Plenty.

  • Tauranga is a city located in the Western Bay of Plenty region on the eastern coast of New Zealand's North Island. It is the largest city in the Bay of Plenty and the fifth-largest urban area in New Zealand, with a population of approximately 150,000 people. Tauranga is located about 200 kilometers southeast of Auckland. The city is situated on the shores of the abundant Tauranga Harbour and surrounded by the stunning Kaimai ranges. We like to boast that we have the best climate in New Zealand, and given that Mount Maunganui is a prime summer holiday destination, we think you will agree! We are surrounded by beautiful beaches, stunning ranges and open pasture. We are a breath of fresh air, and the ultimate for work life balance.

  • The Western Bay of Plenty (WBOP) is a region located in the Bay of Plenty area of the North Island of New Zealand. It encompasses a diverse range of landscapes, from coastal areas to rural hinterlands and mountainous regions. The region is home to around 200,000 people. Some of the key towns and cities in the Western Bay of Plenty include Tauranga, Katikati, Te Puke, Waihi Beach, and Omokoroa. Each of these townships has their unique flavour. Our region is known for its stunning natural beauty, with scenic attractions in abundance.

  • The Western Bay of Plenty is known for its thriving and resilient industry cross sector. Some of the key industries in the Western Bay of Plenty include horticultural, agricultural, manufacturing and tourism. What is lesser known about Tauranga, is that innovation and entrepreneurship is ripe. Our fertile land grows more than just kiwifruit, it grows some of the most innovative minds, ideas and businesses in the country.

  • Business is booming in Tauranga. We are the number one location in New Zealand to economically distribute products on and offshore. Why? Because we host New Zealand's largest and Australasia's most efficient port. Taurangas central location provides access to 50% of the population within a 2.5 hour drive. This means that while we are relatively small in city size, we are at the heart of a globally connected network.

If you are thinking of bringing your business to Tauranga, Priority One is here to help.

We have a diverse mix of business here, from start-up's and SME’s to international head offices. Tauranga's GDP has eclipsed the national average since 2013, to take the title of New Zealand's fastest-growing economy. Our city centre is also experiencing a resurgence, with more than $1.5bn being invested into new office and living space as the city intensifies. Check it out here

But what makes us special, is the people you will meet in the business community. Entrepreneurial, down to earth and approachable, Tauranga attracts those that priortise the flow between work and life balance. We are a small country, with strong community ties and a sense of belonging. The sense of connectedness here is palpable.

  • Talent is in hot demand in Tauranga, and we are certain you will find a job that you love locally. While we are a small city in comparison, our mindset and natural assets such as the port mean we play global.
